JAPAN'S Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) president Koichi Muto announced the creation of a new consortium with Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ("K" Line) and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) to upgrade their Asia-Mexico and west coast South America service from July 22 and July 29.
MOL has been offering Asia-Mexico and west coast South America Service with "K" Line and will launch its upgraded version with a new partner, NYK. The new service will offer two loops with MOL's covering Mexico, Ecuador and Colombia and NYK's covering Mexico, Peru, Chile. The companies will also deploy larger vessels to meet rising demand in these trade lanes.
The new service of WL1 will have a 70-day turnaround on loop 1 deploying mainly by 3,200-TEU vessels with a port rotation of Yokohama, Keelung, Hong Kong, QINGDAO-Da Chan Bay, Xiamen, Shanghai, Busan, Manzanillo (Mexico), Callao (Peru), Iquique (Chile), Valparaiso (Chile), Lirquen (Chile), Callao, Manzanillo and back to Yokohama.
The weekly service of WL2 will have a 63-day turnaround on loop 2 deploying a 2,000-TEU vessels and another of 2,100 TEU. They will follow the following rotation of Tokyo, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nagoya, Yokohama, Manzanillo (Mexico), Buenaventura (Colombia), Guayaquil (Ecuador), Manzanillo and back to Tokyo.
