India's state-owned Concor profit off 3.5pc in first quarter

STATE-OWNED Container Corporation of India has posted an April-June 2010 net profit of INR1.9 billion (US$40.5 million), a decrease of 3.5 per cent year on year.


Revenue for the June quarter grew by 0.9 per cent to INR9.1 trillion, far lower than analysts' forecast of 12 per cent to INR10 trillion.


Revenue from transportation of containerised goods meant for export or import slipped 0.5 per cent year on year to INR7 billion, while domestic segment revenue increased by 7.1 per cent to INR1.9 billion, reports DNA.


According to data released by the Indian Ports Association, the nation's container traffic at 12 major ports in June was up eight per cent year on year. A report by RTT News said overall traffic was up by 16.7 per cent year on year.
