TAIWAN's Evergreen Maritime Corp, has reallocated four of the six 8,000-TEU vessels on order from Samsung that were once a part of a 10-ship contract in July involving its main shareholder, Evergreen International, which ordered four of the 10 ships.

Evergreen Maritime will keep two of the ships, while the four other vessels will be reallocated to two Evergreen subsidiaries.

A report by Alphaliner said, "Three contracts are transferred to Evergreen Marine (UK) (formerly known as Hatsu Marine until April 30, 2007) and one contract to Greenmarine Compass SA, a Panama-based affiliate."

It said the second batch of 10 similar ships announced in September, comprising seven for Evergreen Maritime and three for Evergreen International, will not be affected by the move.

"Although officially advertised with a capacity of 8,000 TEU, these 20 ships are believed to stow closer to 8,800-9,000 TEU. Each of these ships was contracted for US$103 million and will be delivered over 2012-2014, Alphaliner added.
